WIND

“Wind” began with an invitation from Peripécia Teatro to undertake an artistic residency in 2020, to create a work for the outdoor space of its headquarters in Coêdo (Vila Real).

The photographs were made in the landscape surrounding the Serra do Alvão, using a system in which time is introduced as a structuring element. Each image is composed of a sequence of time-lapse photographs taken from a fixed point, recording elements of the landscape altered by the wind. It is the instability of these successive records that builds the narrative, told through the sequence of images, which are then joined into a single plane in chronological order, in horizontal strips. "Vento" explores a way of capturing images that takes it away from photography and towards the moving image, only to return to its two-dimensional condition, the essence of photography.
