Project carried out between 2005 and 2009 in high-mountain areas (Gerês, Pena Ubiña – Asturias, Serra da Estrela).
In these places, where the human confronts their own insignificance in the face of nature, that point of reference is radically inverted. The mountain as such is denied: scale, distance, panorama, and the sublime are inaccessible. There are no reference points. What remains is diffuse white matter that retains, in some instances, glimpses of what might be a mountain. This erasure represents a stance: that the landscape, photographed at the limits of visibility, reveals more about the observer's perceptual condition than about the place depicted. The camera—the instrument supposedly capturing reality— encounters here a reality that refuses to be captured. These are images that exist on the threshold between photography and its own impossibility.
